Description:

The Behavior Technician/BCBA Candidate will provide direct 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to clients under the supervision of a BCBA while supporting the onboarding, training, and development of RBTs and other direct-care staff. This role combines direct clinical responsibilities with staff training, program implementation support, and quality assurance to help ensure that client treatment plans are implemented consistently and effectively.

Requirements:

Direct ABA Services

  • Provide direct 1:1 ABA services to clients under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans, behavior intervention plans, skill-acquisition programs, and behavior-reduction procedures as directed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Support clients in developing communication, social, adaptive, academic, and daily-living skills.
  • Maintain client safety and follow established behavior-support and crisis-management procedures.
  • Communicate client progress, concerns, and significant behavioral changes to the supervising BCBA.

Data Collection & Documentation

  • Collect accurate and objective behavioral and skill-acquisition data during sessions.
  • Collect Interobserver Agreement (IOA) data with other trained staff to assess the reliability and accuracy of data collection.
  • Conduct IOA observations according to established clinical procedures and communicate discrepancies to the supervising BCBA.
  • Maintain accurate and timely session documentation, including data sheets, progress notes, and other required clinical records.

Staff Training & Development

  • Assist with onboarding and training new RBTs and direct-care staff.
  • Train staff on ABA procedures, data collection, reinforcement strategies, prompting, documentation, and other assigned clinical procedures.
  • Model appropriate implementation of client treatment protocols and provide constructive, supportive feedback to staff.
  • Observe staff implementation of programs and identify training needs or areas requiring additional support.
  • Communicate staff training concerns or performance needs to the supervising BCBA or clinical leadership.
  • Assist with competency-based training and preparation for RBT competency assessments when authorized and appropriately supervised.
  • Support staff in developing confidence and consistency with client-specific programs and ABA procedures.
  • Help ensure staff consistently implement client programs according to BCBA-developed treatment plans.

Team Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, case reviews, and professional-development activities.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs and other members of the clinical team to support consistent implementation of treatment plans.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow all organizational, ethical, and clinical standards.
  • Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with applicable privacy requirements.
  • Complete additional clinical or training-related responsibilities as assigned by clinical leadership.

BCBA Fieldwork Responsibilities

  • When applicable, participate in supervised fieldwork activities toward BCBA certification.
  • Complete BCBA fieldwork activities only under appropriate supervision and in accordance with applicable BCBA/ABA requirements.
  • Maintain clear boundaries between RBT responsibilities and activities performed as a BCBA candidate under supervision.
  • Follow all supervision and documentation requirements associated with supervised fieldwork.
Qualifications
  • Experience providing ABA services in a clinical, center-based, school, or in-home setting preferred.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supporting other RBTs or direct-care staff preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ABA principles, data collection, reinforcement, prompting, and behavior-reduction procedures.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide professional, constructive feedback to staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with BCBAs, RBTs, families, and other members of the treatment team.
  • BCBA candidates actively completing supervised fieldwork are encouraged to apply.
