Health and Safety Specialist

Mark Anthony Brewing Canada Ltd. | Surrey, BC

Position Summary

Mark Anthony Brewing Canada Ltd. is part of the Mark Anthony Group of Companies, one of North America’s most diversified and successful private beverage companies focused on the alcohol beverage sector. Founded in 1972, the Company grew organically from a one-person wine importing business into a producer and distributor of fine wine, premium spirits, and ready-to-drink beverages, including White Claw Hard Seltzer.

We are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team and support the continued development of a safe, compliant, and proactive workplace culture within our manufacturing environment.

Role Purpose

The Health and Safety Specialist will collaborate with site leadership, employee groups, and the safety team to provide direction and execute actions that promote positive safety behaviours and culture while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, provincial, local, and company safety and health standards.

This role is responsible for leading and supporting comprehensive industrial health and safety programs, processes, and systems at the site. The Health and Safety Specialist will lead program development and analysis, manage risk, perform exposure evaluations, audit for compliance with regulatory requirements, and develop preventative measures to control potential occupational health and safety risks, employee injuries and illnesses, property damage, and industrial hygiene exposures.

Accountabilities and Impact
  • Work with the QA & EHSS Manager to develop and implement health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop necessary training modules to ensure employees understand and can execute established procedures while meeting applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and systems through consistent monitoring and auditing.
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Lead site incident management, with support from Corporate EHS, with regard to food safety, environmental compliance, and safety.
  • Support required regulatory notifications and reporting, where applicable.
  • Review and maintain all company personal injury records.
  • Monitor changes in federal, provincial, and local safety and health codes, and communicate such changes to site management.
  • Partner with leadership and employee groups to promote positive safety behaviours and a strong safety culture.
  • Support risk assessments, exposure evaluations, audits, investigations, and preventative action plans.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, incidents, property damage, and industrial hygiene exposures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Experience Needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing safety programs, processes, and systems.
  • Experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards, regulatory compliance, incident management, auditing, risk assessment, and preventative safety programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments.
  • Graduate Safety Practitioner, Associate Safety Professional, Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Canadian Registered Safety Technician, or similar designation is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn and use standardized systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with site leadership, employees, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
