Job Description
The Human Resources & Employee Relations is responsible for leading and administering the club’s human resources functions with a strong emphasis on employee relations, payroll administration, recruitment, retention, training, and workplace culture. This position supports all club departments by fostering a positive, service-oriented work environment that reflects the club’s mission, values, and commitment to exceptional member experiences.
The Human Resources & Employee Relations serves as a trusted resource for employees and department leaders while ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws, payroll regulations, and club policies.
Requirements:Employee Relations & Club Culture
- Promotes a positive, hospitality-focused workplace culture consistent with the club’s service standards and traditions
- Serves as the primary contact for employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, coaching, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
- Maintains a visible presence throughout the club to build strong relationships with employees across all departments
- Partners with department leaders to enhance communication, teamwork, morale, and employee engagement
- Develops and coordinates employee recognition programs, appreciation events, and staff engagement initiatives
- Assists managers with performance management, corrective action, documentation, and employee development
- Supports onboarding and orientation programs that introduce new employees to the club’s culture, values, and service expectations
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all employee interactions and investigations
Human Resources Administration
- Administers and maintains HR policies, procedures, employee handbook materials, and personnel records
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Coordinates recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts for full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff
- Oversees employee file management, benefits administration support, and required employment documentation
- Assists with training programs related to workplace safety, harassment prevention, service standards, and professional development
- Maintains HRIS systems and employee databases with accuracy and confidentiality
Payroll Administration
- Processes payroll accurately and timely in accordance with club policies and wage and hour regulations
- Reviews and audits payroll records, timekeeping data, PTO balances, deductions, and benefit withholdings
- Coordinates with accounting and department managers to ensure accurate payroll reporting and labor tracking
- Ensures compliance with payroll-related regulations, including overtime, garnishments, and tax reporting requirements
- Assists employees and managers with payroll questions and timekeeping issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2-4 years of progressively responsible human resources experience, preferably in a private club, hospitality, or service-oriented environment
- Knowledge of human resources practices, employment law, payroll administration, and employee relations principles
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work effectively with employees, managers, members, and guests in a professional club environment
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar HR certification preferred
- Experience working in a private club or hospitality environment with seasonal staffing fluctuations
- Familiarity with hourly, tipped, and seasonal workforce administration
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the clubhouse and club facilities regularly during the workday
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
