ELECTRICAL ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: VP Engineering, Maintenance and Environmental
Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer provides engineering and project management services for the entire
manufacturing operation. PLC programming, HMI & operator display programming, AC/DC Drive
configurations, calculate project cost estimates, design of drawing packages and specifications,
contractor and equipment bids and selection, purchase requisitions, project cost accounting,
scheduling, and oversight of projects, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, electrical
maintenance in support of production and facilities.
Primary responsibility:
• Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing automation systems, including but not limited to
PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems (plc messaging, middleware, and SQL).
• Modifying and testing manufacturing process equipment; consulting with equipment vendors.
• Maintain and troubleshoot various types of automation instrumentation and devices such as
servo drives, variable frequency drives, barcode/RFID readers, and I/O.
• Assist other IS members in the development of systems solutions.
• Assist in troubleshooting connectivity and reliability issues which affect the collection of
process data.
Knowledge of and/or Training on the following:
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn interfacing with other business systems, such as ERP or
MES.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn configuration, testing, and debugging to support the
organization's MES system.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or automation engineering technology or
equivalent.
▪ 5-7 years of experience in Industrial Electricity and controls.
▪ A full understanding of analog, digital, and logic circuits.
▪ Experience in installing and troubleshooting PLCs, variable frequency drives, and power
distribution systems.
▪ Experience with PLC programming, HMI, OPC, and SCADA Systems.
▪ Preferred but not required is having experience or understanding of MES and Historian
Systems.
▪ Capable of installing and commissioning new or retrofitted automated equipment and able to
modify and write PLC logic.
▪ Knowledge of integrated controls and familiarity with communication platforms
▪ Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Internet, and
industry-specific applications.
