HEART OF THE HOUSE SHIFT LEADERA multifaceted role, the Kitchen Shift Leader works in conjunction with the Culinary Leadership Team to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen. Focusing on food quality, staff training, execution, prep management, cleanliness, and labor control, the Kitchen Shift Leader plays a key role in ensuring operational excellence and consistency in every service.

- Support a culture of positivity, accountability, and high standards where all staff CHASE perfection in everything they do
- Lead by example and foster a clean, organized, and respectful kitchen environment
- Execute standard operating procedures and coordinate kitchen operations during each shift to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Support Culinary Leadership in developing and implementing effective training initiatives for all back of house team members
- Ensure all food is prepared, plated, and executed to PLANTA standards with consistency and urgency
- Monitor prep levels, station readiness, line organization, and ticket times throughout service
- Assist in creating kitchen schedules based on business levels to ensure budgeted labour costs are met
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management to ensure all products are properly stocked and rotated
- Monitor adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with DOH guidelines and company procedures
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy kitchen operations by enforcing sanitation standards, proper equipment handling, and safe work practices
- Monitor food waste, portioning, and cost controls to support profitability goals
- Assist with inventory counts and reporting as needed
- Support communication between Front of House and Back of House teams to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Resolve in-service issues quickly and effectively while maintaining composure during high-volume periods
- Identify and follow up on repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness needs to ensure kitchen standards are consistently upheld
- Participate in culinary meetings, line checks, menu rollouts, and operational initiatives as required
- 2+ years in a supervisory role with high-volume exposure in a full-service restaurant kitchen
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety standards, and line execution
- Experience with labour management, inventory controls, prep systems, and food cost awareness
- Focused on building and promoting the company’s vision and values
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while leading with professionalism and positivity
- Self-starter with the ability to motivate, coach, and recognize all levels of staff
- Genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, culinary excellence, and team development
- Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
- High level of accountability and attention to detail
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills through the ability to diagnose and implement solutions quickly and effectively
