Donlin Gold is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Project Geologist to join our Exploration team in Western Alaska. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a world-class gold project while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic remote field environment.
Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Project Geologist plays a key role in supporting drilling programs, geological data collection, core yard operations, and daily coordination of field activities. The successful candidate will work closely with geologists, drilling contractors, and technical teams to help ensure exploration activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Company standards.

What You’ll Do
- Coordinate daily activities of geology crews and core yard personnel
- Support lineout meetings, work assignments, and daily field coordination
- Ensure Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) are completed appropriately
- Assist with employee timekeeping and daily operational tracking
- Oversee core logging, sampling, and core cutting activities in accordance with Company SOPs and QA/QC standards
- Coordinate with drilling contractors and drill foremen regarding drilling progress, core recovery, and operational issues
- Review daily drilling and shift reports for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare sample dispatch paperwork and coordinate shipments to off-site laboratories
- Assist with geological database management and routine reporting requirements
- Maintain compliance with Company safety, environmental, and operational policies
- Support a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field required
- Minimum three (3) years of mining and/or mineral exploration experience
- Experience with drilling programs, geological logging, and core handling procedures
- Experience with acQuire, Leapfrog Geo, and ArcGIS preferred
- Experience working in remote exploration or mining environments preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship
Working Conditions
This position works on a rotational schedule at a remote Alaska site. Employees may work in varying weather conditions and around drilling equipment, heavy machinery, and uneven terrain.
The role may require:
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods
- Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
Successful candidates must pass a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background clearance.
