This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced database professional to support mission-critical systems within a highly regulated federal environment. In this role, you will provide senior-level database administration expertise across production, development, and testing environments, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of essential applications. You will play a key role in database architecture, modernization initiatives, deployment support, and operational maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle. - Provide senior-level database administration support across production, development, and testing environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain database architectures that support mission-critical business applications and operational systems.
- Administer and optimize SQL Server environments to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
- Perform database performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal system efficiency.
- Develop and enforce database security controls, access management procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes to protect organizational data assets.
- Support database deployment activities, production releases, and application lifecycle management initiatives.
- Lead and assist with data migration, modernization, and system transformation projects.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and project teams throughout Agile and SDLC processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configurations.
- Identify risks, resolve complex database issues, and implement continuous improvements across database environments.
- Active Public Trust clearance is required.
- Proven experience supporting federal civilian agencies; experience with IRS or Treasury environments is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience as a Database Administrator supporting mission-critical production systems.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
- Experience designing and implementing database architectures for enterprise-scale applications.
- Advanced knowledge of database performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity strategies.
- Familiarity with database security best practices, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting application deployments, maintenance activities, and production release management.
- Proven success supporting application modernization, migration, and transformation initiatives.
- Experience working within FISMA-regulated environments and adhering to federal security requirements.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and application lifecycle management processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
