THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL AND BRAIN SCIENCES at VILLANOVA UNIVERSITY invites applications for TWO TENURE TRACK POSITIONS (ASSISTANT PROFESSOR) in NEUROSCIENCE to begin in August 2027. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a closely related discipline and should have the ability to generate a high-quality research program using non-human model systems and a commitment to teaching in our undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) programs, including mentorship of Master’s theses in our rigorous, research-oriented program. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence of our academic community. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain a high-quality research program leading to publication in respected outlets.
• Contribute to the department’s teaching efforts, establishing skillful classroom teaching and student mentoring. Teaching responsibilities likely will include Introductory Psychology, Biopsychology, and other assignments determined by faculty member interests and department/program needs.
• Provide formal and informal academic advisement to students in accordance with department standards.
• Be an active member of our department, college and university.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have earned, or be near completion of, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a closely related discipline, with proven achievement or clear aptitude for excellence in research and teaching.

About the University: Founded in 1842, Villanova University has a total enrollment of about 10,500 students of whom approximately 7000 are full-time undergraduates in one of four colleges: Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Nursing, and Business. Most of the rest are enrolled in graduate programs in one of the above four colleges or in the School of Law.

Location and Accessibility: Villanova University is located approximately 12 miles west of Philadelphia, PA, in the heart of Philadelphia’s suburban “Main Line” area. It is readily accessible by car and by public transportation. The campus is located about a quarter of a mile from the Villanova/St. Davids exit of I-476, a major component of the Philadelphia area expressway system. Villanova is connected to Philadelphia and to suburban communities to the west by a SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) bus line and by the R5 regional rail line which has a station on campus. Another rail line, SEPTA’s Norristown High Speed Line, with two stations on campus, connects Villanova with suburban communities to the north and to the south.
