Rooms Supervisor in PETOSKEY, Michigan at NORTHERN HOTELS GROUP, LLC

Reports To: General Manager / Assistant General Manager

Position Summary

The Rooms Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure guest rooms and public areas are clean, safe, and maintained according to hotel brand standards. This position leads, trains, and supports the housekeeping team while helping maintain a positive work environment and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise the daily activities of the housekeeping staff.

Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and brand standards are met.

Assign daily room boards and work assignments.

Train new housekeeping team members on cleaning procedures, safety practices, and hotel standards.

Coach and motivate team members while providing ongoing performance feedback.

Assist with cleaning guest rooms and public areas as needed during busy periods.

Ensure housekeeping carts, closets, and linen rooms remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.

Monitor inventory of linens, terry, guest room supplies, and cleaning chemicals.

Report maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department.

Ensure all lost and found items are handled according to hotel policy.

Maintain proper use and storage of cleaning equipment and chemicals.

Follow all OSHA, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Work closely with the Front Desk to prioritize room readiness and accommodate guest requests.

Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and labor management as directed.

Help maintain departmental productivity goals while ensuring quality service.

Respond professionally and courteously to guest concerns and requests.

Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management.

Qualifications

Previous housekeeping experience required.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Basic computer and communication skills preferred.

Must be dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds.

Ability to operate housekeeping equipment and cleaning tools.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as business demands require.
