Supervisor Central Sterile

Crouse’s Sterile Reprocessing team is hiring a Supervisor, Central Sterile works under the direct supervision of the department Manager and is responsible for the staffing in Sterile Reprocessing; the assignment of work and observation of these activities; enforces policies and procedures as written; participates in the educational activities in the department; maintains the area by controlling the inventory of supplies, operation of equipment and the updating of programs; performs tasks as appropriate in a customer-focused environment; performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $68,000 plus, based on education and experience

Available Schedule(s): Full-time, 3:00pm – 11:30pm

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Attends and actively participates in hospital or medical performance improvement councils and committees as requested.
  • Proactively communicates with staff and keeps them informed on a regular basis or as needed; updates staff regarding policy changes in specialized areas.
  • Develops and utilizes department policy statements, scope of service, quality indicators and updates; revises as necessary.
  • Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable).
  • Delegates work assignments to employees on a daily basis, identifies priorities based on the immediate needs of the area and adjusts assignments in a timely and orderly fashion.
  • Oversees special projects; implements revisions or instrument trays, carts, preventative maintenance programs and departmental procedures

Supervisor Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree in a medical or business field preferred.
  • Graduate of Sterile Processing Technician program.
  • Certificate in Sterile Processing as a Technician required. Certification with the certifying agency must be maintained throughout their employment at Crouse Hospital, re-certifying as required and in accordance with the certifying agency guidelines.
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a central service technician with some exposure in all areas of the department.
  • Supervisory Level experience in a Sterile Processing Department, preferred
