Title
Environmental Services Manager
Summary
Supervises the operation of the Environmental Services (EVS) and Linen Departments. Establishes and monitors budgets. Recruits, trains, and coaches’ employees. Oversees the Hazardous Waste, Regulated Medical Waste, and Safety Data Sheet programs. Oversees the external cleaning contracts for off-site locations as well as compliance with those contracts. This position does not provide direct patient care.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The wage range for this position is $67,496.00—$95,284.80. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Leadership
  • In collaboration with the Director of Operations, communicates the mission, values, strategic plan and department goals.
  • Serves as a resource and support person in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of EVS services.
  • Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Environmental Services Department.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends, advances, and best practices in the EVS field.
  • Assists in development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and best practices to comply with MN Department of Health, Federal, State, Local, and Northfield Hospital + Clinics regulations.
  • Oversee external cleaning contracts and compliance for off site locations.
Staff Management
  • Interviews, hires, trains, coaches, manages performance, and evaluates staff.
  • Approves scheduling and timecards.
  • Coordinates and leads educational and training programs.
  • Communicates new/revised policies procedures, regulations, and best practices.
Budgetary Accountability
  • Develops, in consultation with the Director of Facilities, the annual capital and expense budgets.
  • Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Facilities for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care and/or to reduce costs.
  • Manages EVS contracted services.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Coordinates environmental compliance with all hazardous waste regulations and interacts with County, State, and Federal regulators accordingly.
  • Assists with all hazardous waste related reports, including the annual hazardous waste generator license application and the hazardous waste generator biennial report.
  • Maintains all hazardous waste related records, including hazardous waste disposal manifests, inspection forms, and training records.
  • Oversees the training of others that handle hazardous wastes.
  • Schedules timely hazardous waste collections by an appropriate hazardous waste hauler.
  • Regularly inspects hazardous waste storage areas and emergency response equipment; and maintains necessary hazardous waste equipment inventories.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains the Safety Data Sheet computerized data base
Quality Improvement
  • Implements, monitors and participates in continuous quality improvement processes regarding topics pertinent to managed departments.
  • Develops and leads projects supporting quality improvement.
  • Participates in committees and task forces to better understand what quality improvements are needed organization wide.
Required Qualifications
  • Two or Four-Year College Degree
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Have a valid MN driver’s license and driving record that meets NH+C standards
  • 2–5 years’ previous supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–5 years’ experience in related duties in a healthcare facility.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Kronos, etc.)
Schedule
  • 80 hours per two-week pay period
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Weekends and holidays as needed
