Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining environmental, health and safety programs within our printing and manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with operations, facilities and human resources to promote a safe workplace, maintain regulatory compliance, and support day-today EHS activities across two Rochester, NY facilities with approximately 200+ employees. The position plays an active role on the manufacturing floor, supporting safety initiatives, conducting audits and assessments, coordinating employee training and assisting with compliance related activities.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment &Audits:

  • Routinely check facilities for hazards, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe practices.
  • Monitor use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure employees are using required PPE.
  • Monitor first aid stations to be sure they are properly stocked in coordination with our safety supply vendor.
  • Assess new equipment purchases for potential hazards and safety related needs.
  • Develop a First Responder Program

Training & Education: Deliver onboarding and continuous safety education for employees.

  • Develop and maintain EHS manual and program. Including hazcom, fire safety, emergency response, accident procedures, forklift safety, hearing conservation, walking- working surfaces, etc.
  • Coordinates our supervisor and employee safety incentive programs
  • Participate in new hire orientations by reviewing our safety program and conducting general OSHA required new hire safety training
  • Maintain Crisis Management Plan including coordinating required drills.
  • Coordinate and develop procedures to properly and effectively respond to safety emergencies including keeping Emergency Evacuation Checklists up to date
  • Partner with HR on workers compensation and ergonomic plans with the goal of reducing injuries and attaining a lower experience rating

Incident Reporting:

  • Assist with reporting and investigation of incidents

Compliance Management:

  • Ensure company policies align with external regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
  • Responsible for leading government, regulatory and company audits
  • Maintain all environment permits
  • Maintain SDS books to be sure they are current and readily accessible
  • Work closely with the pressroom, inkroom, shipping/receiving, flexo dept., and maintenance to assure proper handling and disposing of hazardous material and universal waste

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety practices and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between facilities.

  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Health & Safety preferred.
  • 3+ years hands on experience in a safety focus role for a manufacturing environment, experience in the print industry preferred
  • OSHA 30, First Aid CPR or related EHS certifications are beneficial
  • Training experience preferred
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish a plus

Environment & Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
