Associate, Securities Lending Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate, Securities Lending Operations based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to join a high-impact operations team responsible for supporting complex financial processes at scale.
You will play a key part in managing securities lending activities, ensuring accurate settlements, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining strong relationships with external counterparties.
The position combines operational execution, financial expertise, and cross-functional collaboration across trading, product, technology, and finance teams.

Accountabilities:

The Associate, Securities Lending Operations will support the daily execution and continuous improvement of securities lending processes, ensuring operational accuracy, timely settlements, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Execute daily securities lending activities in partnership with trading teams and operations stakeholders.
  • Process counterparty returns and support loan recall activities to maintain accurate positioning.
  • Ensure timely settlement of loans and returns while investigating and resolving operational issues.
  • Communicate with external counterparties through email and calls to execute transactions, resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve transaction discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and operational integrity.
  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of records and support audit-related requests.
  • Assist with front-office operational activities related to corporate actions and daily market movements.
  • Support billing activities, month-end processes, and treasury-related cash movements.
  • Collaborate with traders, product managers, engineers, finance teams, and other operations groups to improve workflows and ensure efficient trade execution.
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of operational procedures, including processes supporting new business initiatives.
  • Support onboarding activities for new counterparties and help strengthen operational relationships.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional with experience in capital markets operations and a strong ability to manage complex processes under tight deadlines. They should combine analytical thinking, technical proficiency, and strong collaboration skills.

  • 3+ years of experience working within a broker-dealer, bank, capital markets firm, pension fund, or similar financial services environment.
  • Background in finance, accounting, business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong understanding of securities operations, trade processing, settlements, and reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Ability to identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Comfortable working with financial systems, operational tools, and evolving technologies.
