Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, CAD Interoperability

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, CAD Interoperability based in United States.

This is an exciting opportunity to build advanced software that bridges complex CAD ecosystems with next-generation engineering workflows. In this role, you will develop robust interoperability solutions that preserve design intent while translating proprietary CAD data into a modern programming language for 3D design. Working at the intersection of geometry processing, software engineering, and automation, you'll tackle challenging technical problems that directly improve product development for customers. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced, remote-first environment where innovation, ownership, and technical excellence are highly valued. If you're passionate about CAD technologies, data translation, and building scalable developer tools, this role offers the chance to make a significant impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable import pipelines that convert proprietary and native CAD formats into structured programmatic representations.
  • Build systems capable of extracting complex CAD information, including geometry, feature trees, parameters, assemblies, constraints, metadata, and design intent.
  • Develop integrations with native CAD APIs and SDKs to enhance interoperability where standard conversion tools are insufficient.
  • Translate extracted engineering data into clean, reliable code while preserving model accuracy and structure.
  • Create validation frameworks, automated testing tools, and quality metrics to evaluate geometry, topology, assemblies, and generated outputs.
  • Troubleshoot challenging interoperability issues involving multiple CAD formats, software versions, incomplete metadata, and vendor-specific behaviors.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to continuously improve CAD import capabilities and support real-world customer use cases.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong professional software engineering experience, ideally involving CAD systems, geometry processing, data extraction, file formats, or code generation.
  • Proficiency with systems programming languages such as Rust or C++, including experience working with external SDKs and APIs.
  • Experience developing translation pipelines, automation tools, testing frameworks, and debugging complex technical systems.
  • Ability to work independently, investigate unfamiliar technologies, and deliver practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong understanding of CAD concepts such as assemblies, sketches, constraints, dimensions, features, B-rep geometry, and related data structures is highly desirable.
  • Experience with CAD interoperability SDKs, native CAD APIs, industry-standard exchange formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, ACIS, JT, glTF, STL, etc.), or programmatic CAD workflows is considered a strong advantage.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary ranging from $145,000 to $195,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, location, and market factors.
  • Equity participation alongside base compensation.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (may vary by geographic location).
  • Remote work environment with opportunities to collaborate across distributed teams.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering software and AI-powered hardware design technologies.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to diversity, collaboration, and continuous innovation.
