Position Summary: There is currently a need for three (3) Site Services Operators at the Jefferson Terminal South location in Nederland, Texas. These are full-time, Non-Exempt positions, and work hours are a 12hr shift rotation, with some overtime required. The purpose of the position(s) is to operate the Site Services area and systems of equipment and follow all procedures to produce and/or deliver safe, reliable utility supply and other services to the Site tenants. The selected candidates will report to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsibility for execution/delivery of plan to deliver reliable services and utilities to all site tenants.
- Responsible for EHS including compliance with outfall and air permits.
- Safely operate the Site 600# steam boiler and manage the 300# and 175# site headers.
- Analyze boiler feed water and blow-down condensate to ensure all boiler chemicals are in specification.
- Manage and efficiently run the raw water clarification system at the Water Plant to provide process waters to Site tenants that are with in contractual specifications. This includes turbidity, pH, and residual chlorine levels.
- Water Plant laboratory analysis.
- Safely transfer tenant’s product to/from barges and vessels.
- Safely make tenant’s rail moves with the Site 5,000hp locomotive. This is to include accepting inbound railcars from KCS and setting outbounds.
- Ensure your own professional development and effective day-to-day work performance is of the highest quality.
- Ensure high level of operational discipline including compliance with policies and procedures.
- Improvement of operational systems and ownership. Strict participation in shift meetings, handovers, plant rounds, SOC / SOP compliance, housekeeping is expected.
- Housekeeping is a must. A dirty & untidy work area is an unsafe work area.
- 100% compliance to all safety procedures & PPE requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Duties and Expectations:
- All Operators are expected to become cross trained and work all Services jobs (Water Plant, Belco, Dock, Railroad)
- All Operators will be members of the Jefferson Emergency Response Team, to include firefighting, rescue, Hazmat, and first aid.
Requirements/Skills/Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, and legally authorized to work in United States.
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must possess, or can obtain, a valid TWIC card within 30 days.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Must pass respirator fitness exam and fit testing.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial plant setting or Operator Training Certificate.
- Associate degree in Process Technology preferred.
- Knowledge or experience in Emergency Response is a plus.
- Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as well as required overtime/on-call support.
- Good organizational skills
- Self-motivated.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required for effective interfacing with co-workers and Site tenants.

- Analytical thinking to determine the best solutions to the many problems in the site services area, and to prioritize the resolution in the most efficient order to maximize reliability and minimize fixed cost expenditure.
- Tenacity to push the elimination of site services problems using resources shared with co-workers and Site tenants.
- Interpersonal effectiveness to build collaborative relationships with indirect reports for the betterment of the site services area, and to communicate with site tenants.
- Results orientation to focus on key objectives and elimination of long term problems in the site services area.
- Conceptual thinking to help determine the best concept for improvement in certain site services issues.
- Concern for standards to help hold the Shift Supervisors accountable for keeping safety as the #1 priority.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions including walking, bending, stooping, climbing, digging, lifting and general manual labor.
- Ability to climb on/off railcars, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
