Position Overview:
The Commercial Garage Door Helper works alongside experienced technicians to install, maintain, and repair commercial garage doors, dock equipment, operators, and related systems. This is an entry-level role, perfect for someone who's good with their hands, ready to learn a trade, and looking to build a long-term career in the garage door industry.
Responsibilities:
- Help lead technicians install, service, maintain, and repair commercial garage doors and equipment
- Assist with repairs on springs, cables, tracks, rollers, operators, and hardware
- Safely load, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment for job sites
- Handle basic tasks like drilling, cutting, fastening, and assembling parts under supervision
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
- Follow all company safety rules and OSHA guidelines
- Drive company vehicles and operate equipment safely when authorized
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
- Take on other tasks and projects as needed
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Reliable way to get to the shop and job sites
- Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn a skilled trade
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts, elevated platforms)
- Able to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and stand frequently
- Able to repeatedly use hands, wrists, and arms for installation and repair work
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and climb ladders
- Willing to work indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions
Schedule:
- Standard Monday to Friday availability from 7 AM to 6 PM
- Ability to work weekends as needed
- Some emergency on-call after hours as needed
