Position Summary: The Special Education Quality Standards Coordinator ensures the district'sadherence to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other state and federalregulations governing special education. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, theCoordinator monitors, audits, and verifies that special education services and documentation
meet legal requirements, and provides training, guidance, and technical assistance to school-based teams to sustain compliance and improve outcomes for students with disabilities. This isa non-supervisory professional role.
Key Functions:
Ensure district compliance with IDEA and other applicable federal and state lawsgoverning special education.
Conduct regular audits of Individualized Education Program (IEP) documents andprocesses to verify compliance with legal requirements.
Monitor timelines and processes for IEP development, evaluations, and reevaluations toprevent compliance violations.
Provide training and technical assistance to school-based teams on IDEA requirements,compliance protocols, and best practices.
Analyze special education compliance data to identify trends and recommendimprovements.
Serve as a liaison between the district and state agencies on compliance matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience in special education.
Lead teacher experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Oklahoma teaching certification in special education required, held at the time of hire.
Valid Drivers License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of IDEA and the state-adopted special education records systemand associated regulations.
Expertise in compliance auditing, monitoring, and reporting.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve compliance issues efficiently.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and training-facilitation skills.
Ability to analyze data to identify trends, ensure accuracy, and recommend actionableimprovements.
Proficiency in relevant software tools for data management and documentation.
