Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Complex Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities and other related financial activities. Primary responsibilities include processing property payroll for La Bahia Hotel & Spa and Dream Inn Santa Cruz and single property accounts receivable of La Bahia Hotel & Spa Guest House. Work closely with the Complex Asst. Director of Finance and Complex Director of Finance ensuring compliance with financial regulations and hotel policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll – La Bahia Hotel & Spa and Dream Inn Santa Cruz
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all hotel employees for each property, which are on alternating payroll weeks
- Ensure accuracy of timekeeping records, service charges and gratuities in coordination with department heads and human resources
- Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data
- Process manual payroll checks for both hotels
Accounts Receivable – La Bahia Hotel & Spa Guest House
- Prepare and maintain billing of Guest House initiation, monthly and quarterly fees
Complex Staff Accountant – Dream Inn/ La Bahia Hotel & Spa
- Assist with other accounting tasks assigned by Assistant Complex Director of Finance, i.e. chargebacks, group billing and other investigative tasks if time allows
- Assist with other accounting tasks assigned by Complex Director of Finance to maintain an efficient accounting department and learn aspects of income audit and hotel financial operations as time allows.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to independently resolve vendor and inter-departmental concerns
- Ability to multi-task various projects and processes at the same time to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Knowledge of general financial accounting.
- Understanding of GAAP and Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
- Previous payroll software experience required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Two or more years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
