Job Overview
Join the elite Cardio Thoracic ICU team at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, as a Cardiac Technician providing critical bedside support to patients recovering from open-heart surgeries. In this role, you will work closely under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses to monitor patients, perform specialized clinical tasks, and help manage the post-operative recovery environment. Qualifications
Required:
- Active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Successful completion of cardio thoracic step-down unit technician orientation modules, classes, or clinical work.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
Preferred:
- Previous clinical experience assisting post-operative or ICU-level patients.
- Strong familiarity with hospital telemetry systems and medical equipment maintenance.
Scheduling Requirements
- Days to Work: Flexible schedule as required by the unit.
- Status: Per Diem (PD) Day
Essential Functions
- Assumes direct responsibility for patient care and monitoring before, during, and after procedures under the direction and supervision of an RN for Post-Open Heart procedures.
- Performs bedside Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and accurate glucometer readings.
- Executes full admission setups specifically tailored for incoming Post-Open Heart admissions.
- Assists post-operative patients with early mobility and ambulation in collaboration with the nurse and physical therapist.
- Maintains the unit environment by restocking specialized supplies and managing equipment for Post-Open Heart patients.
- Executes special clinical or administrative assignments within the unit as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
