Mid Level Internal Accountant/Auditor in Rockville, Maryland at Educology Solutions

SUMMARY

We are seeking an Entry- to Mid-Level Internal Accountant/Auditor to support the Internal Audit Team for one of our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational background in accounting and auditing, coupled with a strong willingness to learn and grow through on-the-job training provided by the customer

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing audit plans, tracking risk mitigation, and enhancing the overall internal control environment while working alongside County staff to facilitate seamless knowledge transfer

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Audit Planning: Develop and maintain a timely, flexible annual audit plan utilizing appropriate risk-based methodologies, incorporating risks or control concerns identified by management

. Submit the plan and periodic updates to the Audit Committee for approval

Reporting: Issue comprehensive periodic reports (at least quarterly) to management summarizing the results of ongoing audit activities

Risk & Control Management: Follow through on management's action plans to mitigate identified risks and resolve noted control lapses
.
Advisory Role: Serve in a purely recommendatory capacity on special projects, carefully avoiding any decision-making roles to preserve the strict independence of the internal audit function
.
Training & Best Practices: Foster a robust internal control environment through dedicated education and training initiatives, and keep the Internal Audit Team abreast of emerging trends and successful practices in the field

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Accounting, or a closely related discipline

Experience: Entry-level or mid-level experience in accounting, auditing, and compliance functions
.
Credentials: Appropriate professional certifications or documented evidence of job-related credentials to meet DHHS requirements are highly preferred

Clearance: Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive Background Investigation prior to assignment
