This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal, Risk & Compliance - Regulatory Compliance Senior Consultant based in Canada.
The Senior Consultant will join a growing financial crime compliance practice supporting highly regulated financial services organizations.
You will assess complex compliance and financial crime risks while helping clients strengthen controls, policies, and risk management frameworks.
The role combines hands-on analytical work with project leadership, client relationship management, mentoring, and team development.
You will work across a diverse portfolio of engagements covering fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, and related risks.
The position offers exposure to regulatory developments, audits, investigations, control testing, and enterprise risk challenges.
You will collaborate closely with client stakeholders and senior professionals while translating complex risks into clear, actionable recommendations.

Assess financial crime compliance risks and identify opportunities to strengthen controls, processes, and operational effectiveness.
Support and execute compliance monitoring, internal control risk assessments, and control testing to evaluate whether policies and practices are appropriately designed, risk-based, and effective.
Analyze current and emerging financial services regulations and determine their relevance and potential impact on client organizations.
Support the development, enhancement, and implementation of financial crime risk management policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
Work across financial crime areas including fraud and fraud risk management, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, and other related risks.
Monitor the effectiveness of financial crime compliance programs and prepare clear reports and recommendations for stakeholders.
Support audits, effectiveness reviews, investigations, and other compliance-related assessments.
Evaluate, organize, interpret, and analyze data to identify risks, trends, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
Translate complex operational and enterprise risks into clear, practical recommendations for client personnel, including executive-level stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional contacts while contributing to a high-quality client experience.
Support project planning, scope definition, work plans, staffing, deliverables, and the application of established methodologies under management direction.
Mentor, coach, and provide feedback to interns and consultants, including reviewing work and helping team members develop their capabilities.
Coordinate activities across engagement teams and contribute to a positive culture based on collaboration, open communication, and continuous improvement.
Stay informed about regulatory developments, industry trends, emerging financial crime risks, and evolving compliance practices.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or another relevant discipline.
At least 2 years of Canadian experience working directly in financial crime risk, compliance, audit, professional services, or the financial services industry.
Experience conducting audits of financial crime compliance programs and performing risk assessments.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial crime compliance, particularly fraud and fraud risk management.
Experience with compliance monitoring, internal controls testing, risk assessments, regulatory analysis, or financial crime investigations.
Familiarity with areas such as money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, fraud, and broader financial crime risk.
Ability to evaluate and interpret data and translate findings into practical business and compliance recommendations.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to assess their applicability to business operations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex risks and compliance concepts to executives and other stakeholders.
Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to establish trusted client relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching, or reviewing the work of junior team members.
Strong interest in enterprise risk, operational risk, financial crime compliance, and emerging regulatory developments.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Copilot is an asset.
Experience with model risk is an asset.
A professional certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required, or candidates should be actively pursuing one.
Ability and authorization to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship.
Willingness to work in a hybrid environment, including in-person collaboration and potential travel to client sites depending on engagement requirements.
