Principal, Visual Design

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal, Visual Design based in United States.

This role provides senior creative leadership across visual design, interactive experiences, branding, UX, and digital content.
You will shape design strategy and establish ambitious standards for conceptual thinking, visual excellence, and user-centered experiences.
The position combines hands-on creative direction with team leadership, mentorship, client engagement, and strategic problem-solving.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transform complex challenges into distinctive, high-quality digital experiences.
The role offers significant influence over creative direction, project execution, design systems, and the evolution of the broader design discipline.
You will work closely with clients and internal stakeholders, balancing bold creative thinking with business objectives, budgets, timelines, and production realities.
This is a remote U.S. opportunity for an experienced design leader who wants to challenge conventional thinking and create work that sets new standards for visual and interactive design.

Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop high-quality creative and design solutions across a range of digital experiences.
  • Lead and mentor creative team members while fostering a collaborative, optimistic, proactive, and high-performing culture.
  • Bring fresh and insightful creative perspectives that inspire internal teams and clients while keeping shared goals and client needs at the center.
  • Define and implement design strategies that establish strong visual and conceptual standards across websites, branding, UX, content, and other digital experiences.
  • Develop strategic insights, moodboards, and creative directions that encourage experimentation and innovation.
  • Lead complex digital projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring deliverables exceed client expectations while remaining aligned with budgets and deadlines.
  • Establish project direction, develop creative guidelines, and contribute directly to production when needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client decision-makers and collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex design concepts and strategic recommendations clearly through presentations and client interactions.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the design discipline through mentoring, knowledge sharing, creative conversations, and process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve creative operations, strengthen workflows, and elevate the quality and effectiveness of design practices.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in design and interactive work for leading brands, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Arts, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, and auto layout.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and productivity tools such as HubSpot, Google Suite, and Slack.
  • Strong expertise across visual design, user-centered experience design, interaction design, and brand development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining robust design systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic creative vision and inspiration to large, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, storytelling, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable navigating complex organizations and competing priorities.
  • Strong strategic problem-solving skills with a focus on process efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to balance creative ambition with practical execution, business objectives, and client expectations.
