Job Description
Assembly Technician II
Summary:
Prepares and assembles fabricated parts into subassemblies and complete units. Performs inspections and testing to meet product specifications. Records final test data and identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels. Evaluates failure modes and performs repairs on completed units and RMAs. Required to assemble non-standard units. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with 3-5 years of experience.
Duties:
- Reads and follows assembly procedures, engineering documents, wiring diagrams, and performance specifications to complete assembly and testing tasks.
- Assists with generating work instructions, procedures, and standards.
- Assembles components and troubleshoots mechanical systems such as gears and gearboxes, motors with electronics and metal housings, pumps, o-rings, screws, bolts, etc, with the use of hand and power tools, and in accordance with the design specifications.
- Hand -solder electronic components on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB’s) in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001 soldering requirements. Mainly working with Surface Mount (SMT), Plated Through Hole (PTH), and cable assemblies.
- Perform various assembly operations, including precision soldering components on PCBs, assemble cables, and assemble mechanical subsystems of medium to high complexity.
- Performs in-process inspections.
- Connects and tests unit with test equipment such as power supplies, multi-meters, and measures voltage, amps, wattage, and frequency.
- Compares results with specifications and records test data, evaluates and repairs units that do not meet specifications.
- Confers with engineers, supervisors, and others regarding test procedures and results and to resolve problems.
- Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
