This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Analyst (Insurance Domain) – Senior based in United States.
This role supports the modernization of actuarial and insurance reporting by translating existing reporting processes into scalable data warehouse solutions. You will analyze Excel- and SQL-based actuarial reports, understand underlying calculations, and translate business needs into clear requirements for development teams. The position combines insurance domain expertise with business analysis, data validation, and quality assurance. You will play a key role in ensuring that new reports and measures accurately reflect established calculations and expected business outcomes. Working closely with developers and business stakeholders, you will coordinate testing and drive solutions through user acceptance and final signoff. - Analyze existing actuarial and insurance reports and measures, primarily developed using Excel and SQL, to understand their calculations, logic, data sources, and expected outputs.
- Translate existing reporting processes into clear requirements and implementation guidance for development teams working within a segment data warehouse.
- Investigate underlying data and clarify key calculations, business rules, assumptions, and analytical requirements.
- Develop detailed requirements documentation and acceptance criteria when needed to support development and testing activities.
- Partner closely with developers to explain business requirements, clarify reporting logic, and resolve questions throughout implementation.
- Perform quality assurance testing to validate that new reports and measures accurately reproduce expected results.
- Compare report outputs against established calculations and source data to identify discrepancies and determine potential causes.
- Conduct data analysis to support troubleshooting, issue investigation, and resolution of reporting or data-quality problems.
- Coordinate and own user acceptance testing activities, ensuring appropriate stakeholders participate and requirements are thoroughly validated.
- Manage acceptance testing through final user signoff, tracking issues, decisions, and outstanding requirements.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to ensure reporting solutions meet functional requirements and business expectations.
- Support additional analysis, testing, and documentation activities required to successfully deliver insurance reporting solutions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst or similar role within the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of actuarial and/or reserving reporting processes, preferably within reinsurance.
- Ability to quickly understand complex insurance calculations, business processes, data structures, and reporting requirements.
- Experience analyzing reports and measures using Excel and SQL.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify underlying causes.
- Experience translating business needs and existing reporting logic into clear requirements for technical development teams.
- Experience creating requirements documentation and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on experience with quality assurance and user acceptance testing, including validation of data and report outputs.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate testing activities and drive solutions through final user signoff.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex analytical requirements accurately.
- Comfortable working in a professional environment with frequent use of computers and standard office technology.
