Job Description
STRATA Networks is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support telecommunications and fiber optic construction projects. This hands-on position operates construction equipment while performing excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, material handling, and conduit installation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Operate equipment including mini excavators, backhoes, micro-trenchers, vibratory plows, and other construction equipment.
Perform manual labor including shoveling, hydro-vac work, and pulling conduit.
Excavate, trench, backfill, grade, and install conduit and cable.
Load, unload, and haul equipment and materials according to applicable laws and UDOT guidelines.
Complete daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
Maintain a safe work site for employees and the public.
Communicate project updates and job-site conditions with supervisors and team members.
Maintain accurate project redlines and equipment records.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team
To be successful, you’ll need:
Construction equipment operating experience.
An active CDL and clean driving record.
Ability to interpret construction plans.
Strong commitment to safety and quality work.
Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to pass a drug screening.
Willingness to work varying hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and extended hours.
Ability to travel and work out of town as needed.
Work Environment and Conditions
Outdoor construction work in all weather conditions.
Exposure to heat, cold, dust, mud, rain, snow, and traffic.
Strenuous work in potentially hazardous construction environments.
Extended hours during peak construction season, with days potentially reaching 15 hours.
Physical Demands
Ability to perform strenuous physical work and lift over 100 pounds.
Ability to operate hand tools and heavy equipment.
Ability to enter and exit trenches, manholes, and vaults.
Ability to perform manual labor throughout the workday.
