JOB TITLE: Director of Rehabilitation
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Rehabilitation Services provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the hospital’s full continuum of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and staff development, while advancing the hospital’s mission and fostering community engagement. The Director is responsible for integrating services across multiple care settings to optimize patient outcomes, expand community wellness initiatives, and drive sustainable growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Address patient, guest, member, and staff concerns promptly with empathy and professionalism.

Lead hiring, evaluations, and disciplinary actions with integrity and fairness across all service areas.

Set and uphold high standards for clinical care, therapeutic outcomes, member experience, and operational efficiency across all service settings.

Monitor quality indicators, patient and member satisfaction, productivity, and retention metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Implement evidence-based clinical protocols, performance improvement initiatives, and safety programs.

Ensure all staff maintain licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements.

Conduct audits to ensure accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to safety standards.

Optimize workflows and patient throughput ensuring the best staff and patient experience.

Develop and expand inpatient and outpatient specialty programs to meet evolving patient and community needs.

Analyze trends in reimbursement, healthcare, and fitness industries to adapt strategies for sustainability.

Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and creative solutions to improve functional outcomes, member engagement, and patient satisfaction.

Collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans across inpatient, outpatient, and wellness settings.

Engage patients and families in goal setting, progress tracking, and wellness initiatives.

Build partnerships with referral sources, community organizations, and local networks.

Lead community outreach, wellness programs, and educational initiatives to promote healthy living.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that promotes engagement and teamwork across all services.
QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
-
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or related field required.

Active, unrestricted state licensure in a rehabilitation discipline (PT, OT, or SLP) is required.
-
Minimum 5–10 years of progressive rehabilitation leadership experience in a hospital setting.

Active, current, and unrestricted state professional licenses such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology is required.

Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, accreditation standards, and reimbursement models.

Demonstrated financial management and operational leadership skills.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required.

Specialty board certification (e.g., OCS, NCS, CHT, etc.) — preferred.

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of CMS, Joint Commission, and state licensure standards.

Innovation & Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement new programs, service lines, and technology solutions.

Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate trust with patients, families, staff, and referral sources.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Hospital inpatient and outpatient based clinical and administrative settings.

Frequent walking, standing, and occasional assistance with patient mobility.

Interaction with patients experiencing acute and chronic medical conditions.

May require flexible hours based on operational needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

Benefit Eligibility Requirements - Employees regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week.
