In this role, you will play a key part in managing global indirect tax compliance operations within a fast-paced and highly collaborative SaaS environment. You will oversee end-to-end compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions while supporting cross-functional teams on tax-related matters tied to evolving products, transactions, and business initiatives. The position offers strong ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to improve operational efficiency through automation and scalable processes. Working closely with finance, legal, sales, and billing teams, you will contribute to maintaining accurate tax frameworks and ensuring compliance readiness. - Manage end-to-end indirect tax compliance activities across the US, Canada, and international jurisdictions, including nexus analysis, return preparation, filings, payments, and threshold monitoring to ensure accuracy and timely compliance.
- Maintain and update SaaS taxability guidance across relevant jurisdictions to support accurate tax determination as products and transactions evolve.
- Oversee exemption certificate management and tax engine configurations, ensuring tax rates and transaction logic remain accurate within systems such as Avalara.
- Perform monthly accruals, quarterly reconciliations, and maintain supporting documentation to strengthen audit readiness and internal controls, including SOX compliance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Sales, Billing, Legal, and Accounting to advise on indirect tax implications related to customer structures, product launches, and new business activities.
- Drive continuous improvements through automation initiatives, scalable compliance processes, and AI-enhanced workflows to improve efficiency and operational accuracy.
- Proven experience managing indirect tax compliance across US, Canadian, and international jurisdictions, including VAT/GST processes, nexus analysis, filings, exemption certificates, and voluntary disclosure agreements.
- Strong understanding of indirect tax principles within SaaS or technology-driven business environments.
- Experience working with finance and tax systems such as Avalara, NetSuite, Zuora, and advanced spreadsheet tools.
- Ability to work independently in a lean, fast-paced, and globally distributed team environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and reconciliation skills with a focus on compliance accuracy and process controls.
- Familiarity with SOX processes, audit support, and compliance documentation practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical tax matters clearly to non-tax teams.
- Educational background in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications or advanced tax studies are considered a plus.
