DevSecOps Team Lead

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a DevSecOps Team Lead in Germany.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced DevSecOps professional passionate about building secure, scalable, and automation-driven cloud environments. In this role, you will lead a team focused on embedding security into every stage of the software development lifecycle while enabling engineering teams to innovate rapidly and safely. You will help shape long-term DevSecOps strategy, drive the adoption of Security-as-Code practices, and improve security posture across cloud-native infrastructures. The position combines technical leadership, architecture oversight, and operational excellence in a globally distributed and fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, product, and security stakeholders to implement modern security frameworks and scalable controls. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges while mentoring teams and influencing organizational security maturity.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevSecOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and high performance across distributed teams.
  • Define and execute the DevSecOps roadmap, aligning security initiatives with broader engineering and business objectives while promoting secure development practices organization-wide.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product teams to integrate security requirements early in the product lifecycle and support secure-by-design development methodologies.
  • Oversee the implementation of Policy-as-Code frameworks and automated compliance controls using tools such as OPA or Kyverno across cloud and Kubernetes environments.
  • Drive the design and governance of secure cloud architectures, focusing on Zero Trust principles, identity-based access management, and container security best practices.
  • Manage security tooling and vendor relationships, evaluating solutions to optimize security coverage, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor key security metrics including MTTR, vulnerability remediation trends, and detection accuracy to improve operational performance and risk visibility.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point during security incidents, leading root cause analysis and blameless post-mortem reviews to strengthen resilience and processes.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience in Security, DevOps, Infrastructure, or related cloud engineering roles within modern technology environments.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience managing or mentoring technical teams in DevSecOps, Security Engineering, or Platform Engineering functions.
  • Strong expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, and CI/CD platforms including GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes security, RBAC, network policies, admission controllers, and cloud security services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing security tooling including SAST, DAST, SCA, and secrets management platforms such as HashiCorp Vault.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python, Go, or TypeScript for building internal tools, automations, and integrations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical risks into business impact for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance security best practices with operational agility in fast-scaling, cloud-native environments.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility to work across the EMEA region
  • Competitive compensation package with potential stock grant opportunities depending on role and location
  • Flexible remote-first culture with optional coworking access through WeWork
  • Access to scalable benefits and perks tailored to local employment conditions
  • Opportunity to work in a globally distributed, high-growth technology environment
  • Career acceleration through exposure to complex infrastructure and security challenges at scale
  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance and personal wellbeing
