Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The Office of Specialized Services typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. This is a grant funded 10-month Graduate Assistant position that is part-time (20 hours per week) and requires enrollment in a related graduate program. It is expected that the graduate assistant will be on campus at minimum three days per week, but five days is preferred.
Compensation includes a $10,000 stipend and up to $8,000 in tuition reimbursement.
Period of Contract:
September 2026 -June 2027 (renewable); 20 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY
Within the Office of Specialized Services, will be responsible for the implementation of accommodations and support services for students with disabilities as part of the TRIO Grant. Maintenance of student records in accordance with College and grant requirements.
DUTIES
Coordinate proctored accommodated testing between OSS, Testing Center, students and professors through OSSOnline, our online accommodation platform.
Meets with faculty and students as needed for assistance, training, and facilitation of accommodated testing.
Proctor exams as needed.
Assist in TRIO Peer Tutoring by providing record keeping support and assistance in recruitment.
With the assistance from Peer facilitators, lead the OSS Coalition student group.
Participates in meetings and college events related to job responsibilities
Prepares reports, studies and public relations material for the review, information and assistance of the Assistant Director
Prepares and conducts assessment activities associated with the office
Perform other duties as assigned.
Organizational Security Responsibilities: This position requires adherence to the organization's information security policies and procedures. All employees share responsibility for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization’s mission essential IT assets, regardless of role. Individuals in this role are expected to apply appropriate safeguards, participate in required security awareness training, and promptly report potential security incidents in accordance with institutional policies.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree
Open to all Majors (preferred majors: Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field).
Enrollment in a graduate program at Ramapo College or another college/university for a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester or two (2) courses per semester, whichever is greater, during the academic year;
Proof of course enrollment and good academic standing each semester;
Active and satisfactory academic progress towards completion of a graduate degree in an approved graduate (Master’s) program with a transcript provided to the Supervisor(s)/Human Resources Department at the end of each semester;
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and
Good academic standing during the term of the contract.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Adept in use of computer software with the ability to master the use of the Office management system, OSSOnline (AIM), quickly.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Use of office systems and software, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Starfish (Connect), Banner, AIM (OSSOnline), e-mail, and voice mail.
Able to work in a collaborative manner in a team environment.
Able to work in an open office with frequent distractions.
