Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer – Users Infrastructure in India.
This role sits at the very core of a large-scale, global technology platform, where you will design and evolve the identity and access foundations that power all products and services. As a founding member of a new regional engineering hub, you will help shape both the technical architecture and the engineering culture from the ground up. Your work will focus on building secure, distributed systems that handle authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle at scale. You will contribute to the evolution of a modern IAM platform, replacing legacy systems with a highly reliable, globally distributed architecture. The environment is highly technical, collaborative across geographies, and driven by strong engineering excellence and security-first principles. This is a high-impact role where your decisions will influence system-wide security, scalability, and developer experience.
- Design and own core identity services responsible for authentication of all human and machine entities across the platform.
- Define and evolve fine-grained authorization models across a multi-tenant, globally distributed architecture.
- Build and maintain internal developer tools, SDKs, and gRPC interfaces that enable secure and scalable product integration.
- Lead the implementation of enterprise identity integrations such as SSO, SCIM provisioning, and machine-to-machine authentication protocols.
- Improve system observability, reliability, and performance through monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices.
- Ensure integrity of identity data and audit logging systems, maintaining consistency, immutability, and compliance standards.
- Contribute to the establishment of engineering practices and culture within a new regional hub in close collaboration with global teams.
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong expertise in distributed systems, preferably using Go.
- Solid understanding of authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and JWT.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable microservices and distributed architectures using gRPC.
- Strong system design skills, including experience with large-scale data migrations and complex backend systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear technical design documents for cross-regional collaboration.
- Strong security mindset, with familiarity in zero-trust principles and modern authorization models (e.g., Zanzibar-style or SpiceDB).
- Proven reliability-focused engineering approach, including building monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling alongside production systems.
- Experience working in early-stage or founding engineering teams across distributed, global environments.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and market standards.
- Fully remote work setup.
- Opportunity to build and lead a new regional engineering hub from the ground up.
- Exposure to large-scale, global infrastructure and cutting-edge IAM technologies.
- Strong emphasis on engineering excellence, autonomy, and technical ownership.
- Collaborative, international work environment across distributed teams.
- Continuous learning and growth opportunities in high-impact backend systems and security architecture.
