Help Keep Mission-Critical Operations Moving at NASA

At HSG, logistics is more than moving equipment and tracking inventory, it’s about ensuring the right materials, assets, and resources are available to support critical operations at NASA. We’re seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics Specialist to support the NASA Environmental and Medical Contract (NEMCON), helping maintain accountability, operational readiness, and compliance across government property and logistics activities.

General Description

Under the guidance of the Procurement and Logistics Manager, the Logistics Specialist will support the property management program functions in support of both HSG and the NASA Environmental and Medical Contract (NEMCON) in accordance with contract requirements, Federal Regulations, and NASA Policies. The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for completing a variety of functions including maintaining inventory accuracy, preservation, issuance, stock and quality control, and property management.

This position is represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) and operates within the framework of a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

How You Will Fulfill Your Mission

  • Supports NASA Property in the performance of physical inventories (ACE and Controlled); follows up with functional departments on corrective actions; provides guidance on government regulations pertaining to property accountability and prepares inventory reporting, as required. Maintains and updates inventory management systems.
  • Supports property inventories, self-assessment audits and walkthroughs of facilities to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Interfaces with the NASA Supply and Equipment Management Office (SEMO), the NASA Industrial Property Office (IPO), and Contractor Property custodians/End-users.
  • Ensures property identification and appropriate tagging is executed during the receipt and inspection stage, and maintained throughout the Property lifecycle, to include property survey and disposal.
  • Supports Quality Manager led self-assessment audits against the property management lifecycle outcomes from acquisition to disposition.
  • Overseeing control and accountability of materials and supplies on the NASA Environmental and Medical Support Contract (NEMCON) from receipt to issue to the end user.
  • Assists in the monitoring of materials and supplies back-stock and bench spares, ensuring materials and supplies are used efficiently. Identifies stock threats and potential expired item disposition.
  • Ensure proper vehicle management functions are complete by ensuring all General Service Administration (GSA) vehicles are properly maintained in accordance with manufacturer and FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) standards.
  • Track the issuance and return of all keys, cores, and padlocks for new and terminated personnel, including lost keys, transferring of keys, and all service requests
  • Shipping Samples and Property to be repaired as needed

Specific Knowledge/Certification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in logistics, government property, or related field.
  • Experience with Asset Management databases or elements of NASA SAP Core Software and Maximo.
  • Proficient in MS Office Outlook, Intermediate Excel, and Word applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize property/material inventory schedules.
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) and NASA Property Policies and Procedures.
