Jr. Accountant in Leesburg, Virginia at Cormac Corporation

We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team. This role supports both accounting operations and financial planning activities, ensuring accurate reporting, informed decision-making, and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Duties

• Prepare and record journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
• Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
• Assist with audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries

Finance & Analysis Duties

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Analyze financial trends, KPIs, and operational metrics
• Prepare dashboards and management reports
• Assist with modeling scenarios to support business decisions
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• 1–4 years of accounting with financial analysis experience
• Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
• Experience in Gov Con accounting packages ideally PROCAS if not other tools similar to PROCAS
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, Government Accounting (indirect rates, flexibly-priced contracts)
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in corporate finance, public accounting, or FP&A
• Demonstrated expertise in using Power BI services to support financial analysis and reporting.
• Able to design and implement dynamic dashboards and custom reports that provide real-time analytics for forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking.
• Adept at translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights to assist leadership in strategic decision-making and drive business growth.
