Vision Quest Solutions (VQS) is seeking an experienced Hospitalist Physician to provide comprehensive inpatient medical care at Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC), an Indian Health Service facility serving the Hopi Reservation in northeastern Arizona.
This travel assignment offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum inpatient medicine in a Critical Access Hospital while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The Hospitalist Physician is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing hospitalized patients, coordinating care with consulting providers, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient outcomes throughout the patient's stay.
Essential Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult and pediatric inpatients admitted to the hospital.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations upon admission.
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
- Coordinate patient care with consulting physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, therapists, and ancillary departments.
- Perform daily patient rounds and monitor clinical progress throughout hospitalization.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions while ensuring continuity of care.
- Coordinate patient transfers, consultations, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with Indian Health Service policies, federal regulations, and evidence-based medical practice.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted medical license.
- Current DEA registration.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent inpatient or hospitalist experience.
- Ability to successfully complete federal credentialing and background requirements.
- Previous Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, VA, or other federal healthcare experience.
- Prior Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare experience.
- Previous hospitalist or travel physician experience.
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered communication skills.
- Experience caring for medically complex patient populations.
