Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for directing daily loading/unloading, transferring, and placement of grain and oil products, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs supervisors in the operation of the elevator, DDGS load out, oil loadout, ethanol load out, inbound Corn.
  • Responsible for development and training programs for Supervisors and all shipping and receiving technicians.
  • Manage schedule of personnel to ensure proper coverage, step in where necessary to help cover Supervisor roles.
  • Create/update any SOP’s, forms, and any other documentation related to job specific performance.
  • Ensures team is meeting requirements for incoming product quality as well as outbound quality.
  • Ensures that safety standards are met and maintained by supervisors, employees, customers, and visitors. Work with the EHS Manager to maintain health and safety guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Responsible for seeing that scheduled maintenance on all equipment is handled.
  • Follow all company and regulatory food safety policies and procedures. Reports any potential food safety issues to management.
  • Implements and oversees projects and continuous improvement efforts in the Shipping & Receiving department.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Multiple direct reports within the facility.
  • Assist with interviewing, selecting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year in grain handling or railroad related field, preferred.
  • Experience supervising others in a significant segment of a large manufacturer or operation, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess heavy industrial machinery aptitude and understanding of the railroad and commercial truck industry.
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and senior level management.
  • Proficiently working with various software programs.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
  • Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
  • Abide by company’s safety, quality, environmental and HR policies at all times.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit.
  • Frequently required to climb to levels of 125 feet or more, confined, and harnessed. Use of stairs and ladders are required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel to lift objects of 50 pounds or more.
  • Operate in an office and production environment. Production environment could include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the production environment is usually very loud.
  • This position requires use of a respirator.
