This role offers the opportunity to build and operate large-scale storage infrastructure powering some of the most important AI and machine learning assets worldwide.
You will work on high-performance systems software, contributing to open-source technologies and scalable backend services.
The position combines low-level engineering expertise, distributed systems development, and ownership of critical infrastructure.

You will contribute to the design, development, and operation of advanced storage systems while helping build reliable infrastructure at global scale. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance storage systems and backend infrastructure.
- Build and improve low-level systems software supporting large-scale data storage and retrieval.
- Contribute to open-source projects written in Rust and other technologies powering AI development workflows.
- Develop meaningful features within storage architecture, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Solve complex engineering challenges related to distributed systems, data management, and infrastructure operations.
- Design solutions that support massive volumes of machine learning models, datasets, and digital assets.
- Operate production systems by improving monitoring, observability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues through debugging and distributed system analysis.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, and product teams to deliver robust technical solutions.
- Take ownership of projects from technical design through implementation, deployment, and optimization.
- Work effectively in an asynchronous, remote environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Continuously improve engineering practices and contribute technical knowledge to the wider community.
The ideal candidate is an experienced systems engineer with a strong background in distributed infrastructure, low-level programming, and scalable production systems. The required qualifications and skills include:
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems, storage platforms, or networking infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in a low-level programming language, with Rust experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with systems programming and designing reliable, high-performance software.
- Proven ability to independently own complex technical projects in a high-trust, low-process environment.
- Experience working with large-scale production systems and solving complex infrastructure challenges.
- Strong understanding of distributed architectures, reliability, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, asynchronous, and fully remote environment.
- Passion for building simple, robust, and scalable systems used by engineering and research communities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate technical ambiguity.
Additional experience that would be considered an advantage:
- Experience designing efficient storage systems, data retrieval platforms, or large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience operating production systems, including monitoring, alerting, debugging, and recovery processes.
- Familiarity with Git internals, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Kubernetes, databases, networking technologies, or infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Go, or C++.
