Creating opportunities and overcoming challenges is what drives us to provide clients with the necessary people, services, and equipment for every job. Position Summary:

The Switch Matrix Operations Manager leads a team of five mechanical engineers and five lab technicians, bringing together engineering design, hands-on assembly, and testing to deliver high-quality systems for aerospace and defense applications. These systems, called switch matrices, route radio frequency (RF) signals between electronic equipment.

This role connects design decisions with successful production—setting priorities, developing team members, removing obstacles, and coordinating resources to keep projects moving. Working closely with project coordinators, procurement, and suppliers, the Operations Manager ensures systems are practical to build and maintain, meet quality requirements, and are delivered on schedule. Success requires a leader who combines sound technical judgment with clear communication, effective coaching, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the design and layout of switch matrices to support DFM principles and serviceability. This includes the positioning and mechanical attachment of switches, amplifiers, couplers, mixers, control boards, power supplies, and front/rear panel connections.
  • Lead, coach, and develop five mechanical engineers and five lab technicians responsible for system design, assembly, and testing.
  • Work with integrators and technicians in support of manufacturability during integration.
  • Work with project coordinators, and procurement to manage the schedule ensuring all switch matrices are built according to schedule and part availability.
  • Verify integrators and test technicians communicate clearly with all project teams regarding issues or concerns during the build process.
  • Set clear priorities and performance expectations, balance workloads, and ensure team members have the tools, information, and support needed to succeed.
  • Review project progress regularly, resolve obstacles, and coordinate with project coordinators and procurement to align production schedules with staffing and material availability.
  • Build collaboration between engineering and lab teams so design decisions support efficient assembly, reliable testing, and consistent quality.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews, provide timely feedback, and address team concerns constructively.

  • Communication and coordination: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal project teams.
  • Mechanical design: Knowledge of 3D computer-aided design (CAD), engineering drawings, and design practices that make systems easier to build, assemble, and maintain.
  • Engineering tools: Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Creo for design and revision control; familiarity with simulation tools used to evaluate cooling needs and structural performance.
  • Technical interpretation: Ability to interpret assembly documentation, dimensional tolerances, and diagrams showing how radio frequency (RF) signals move through a system.
  • Operational problem-solving: Ability to manage competing priorities, remove production obstacles, and improve processes while maintaining quality and schedules.
  • Professional judgment: Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and commitment to MM Solutions’ core values.
  • Computer proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
