Executive Director, Product Strategy & Innovation Auto & Umbrella

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Executive Director, Product Strategy & Innovation – Auto & Umbrella based in the United States United States.

This executive leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering next-generation protection products across auto and umbrella insurance lines. The position drives end-to-end product innovation, from ideation and prototyping through launch and post-market optimization, ensuring solutions are deeply member-centric and commercially sound. It operates at enterprise scale, influencing strategy across multiple business units and distribution channels. The role blends product vision, operational execution, and data-driven decision-making to unlock new market opportunities. It requires close collaboration with risk, compliance, and legal partners to ensure regulatory alignment. As a senior leader, it oversees both product outcomes and organizational capability building. The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and focused on innovation with measurable impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the strategy, development, and execution of innovative auto and umbrella insurance products, from ideation through launch and lifecycle management.
  • Own P&L and operational performance for new and evolving product offerings, ensuring alignment with growth and profitability targets.
  • Drive product innovation using customer insights, data, and emerging technologies to enhance member experience and value.
  • Oversee product performance analytics, using insights to inform enhancements, pricing, underwriting, and future market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk partners to ensure all products meet regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Guide buy/build/partner decisions and develop strategic recommendations for new product initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and manage leaders and individual contributors, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Partner with distribution channels (digital, contact center, and sales) to ensure successful product adoption and scalability.
  • Report performance, insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in insurance, product management, underwriting, operations, or related fields.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience managing teams and developing high-performing talent.
  • Proven expertise in product strategy, roadmap development, and end-to-end product lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of insurance product regulations, risk frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced ability to analyze product performance metrics and translate insights into actionable strategy.
  • Exceptional communication and executive storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management capabilities in complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated success in large-scale strategic initiatives and cross-functional execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
