Operational Finance & Assurance (FP&A) Expert - AI Training & Evaluation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Operational Finance & Assurance (FP&A) Expert - AI Training & Evaluation based in the United States.

This part-time, project-based opportunity is designed for experienced finance professionals who want to apply their expertise to the development of next-generation AI systems.
You’ll evaluate AI-generated financial analyses, assess calculations and reasoning, and identify inaccuracies or gaps in business logic.
Your expertise will help improve the accuracy, reliability, and financial reasoning capabilities of advanced AI models.
The work spans FP&A and operational finance disciplines, including forecasting, reporting, reconciliations, variance analysis, controls, and performance analysis.
You’ll work remotely with a global project team while managing tasks independently and meeting defined quality and productivity expectations.
The engagement offers a flexible way to gain hands-on exposure to AI training and evaluation while contributing meaningful financial expertise.
It is particularly well suited to finance professionals seeking short-term contract work, consulting exposure, supplemental income, or experience at the intersection of finance and AI.

Accountabilities
  • Create and review finance-related prompts, business scenarios, analytical exercises, and evaluation tasks covering operational finance and FP&A topics.
  • Evaluate AI-generated financial responses for accuracy, logical reasoning, completeness, and relevance to real-world business situations.
  • Review financial analyses, assumptions, calculations, forecasts, recommendations, and supporting reasoning to identify errors or inconsistencies.
  • Apply professional finance expertise to assess whether AI outputs reflect sound financial principles, business judgment, and appropriate analytical methodologies.
  • Identify inaccuracies, gaps, ambiguous reasoning, and opportunities to improve AI-generated financial content.
  • Provide structured feedback, quality assessments, and detailed explanations that can be used to improve model performance.
  • Support the development and refinement of AI systems designed to understand complex financial concepts and business problems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to maintain consistent quality standards and deliver accurate evaluation work.
  • Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while meeting project-specific productivity and quality expectations.
  • Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining reliable communication and attention to detail throughout the engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in Operational Finance & Assurance, FP&A, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Fixed Income Research, Quantitative Finance, or a related financial discipline.
  • Strong practical knowledge of budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, reconciliations, month-end close, project financials, financial controls, KPI reporting, and business performance analysis.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities, with the ability to assess complex financial problems and determine whether conclusions and recommendations are logically sound.
  • Excellent written English communication skills and the ability to explain financial reasoning clearly and precisely.
  • Experience with financial modeling, valuation, forecasting, budgeting, investment analysis, quantitative research, or analytical reporting is advantageous.
  • Ability to critically review technical content, research, financial analyses, or business reports and provide structured, constructive feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to reviewing calculations, assumptions, data, and financial conclusions.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing project-based assignments, and meeting deadlines in a fully remote environment.
  • A reliable internet connection and the ability to work effectively with distributed project teams.
  • CFA Charterholder or CFA Candidate, ACCA, ACA, CMA, MBA Finance, M.Com, or comparable credentials are preferred.
  • Previous exposure to AI, machine learning, data annotation, model evaluation, or AI training projects is a plus.
Benefits
  • $35–$42 USD per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Fully remote work from anywhere within the United States.
  • Part-time, temporary contract engagement.
  • Flexible schedule with no fixed number of hours per day; workload is based on available project tasks.
  • Anticipated short-term project duration of approximately 7–10 days, with a tentative start date of August 31, 2026.
