Position Summary
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the physician and practice team in a plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures practice. This role assists with patient consultations, aesthetic treatments, minor procedures, patient education, and daily office operations while ensuring a high level of patient care and service.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the providers during consultations, cosmetic procedures, and follow-up visits.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, syringes, and supplies for aesthetic and cosmetic treatments in accordance with office protocols.
- Room patients, obtain medical histories, record vital signs, and document patient information.
- Take and manage clinical photographs for patient records.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure instructions and patient education.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies, injectables, and skincare products.
- Ensure treatment rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient care.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and assist with patient communications.
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and support front office operations as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, aesthetics, cosmetic medicine, or a medical office preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care procedures, and infection control practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to sit, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to visually assess treatment areas and accurately document patient information.
