Imaging Aide
Part-Time | Monday–Thursday | 8:00 AM–3:30 PM | 28 hours/week
No weekends | No call
Position Summary
The Imaging Aide provides essential support to the Imaging Department at Southern Oregon Orthopedic by assisting Imaging Technologists with patient transportation, patient transfers, room preparation, cleanliness, stocking, and overall department workflow. The Imaging Aide plays an important role in providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care while helping maintain a clean and organized imaging environment.
Physical Requirements
- Walking and standing comprise approximately 90% of the workday, with approximately 10% sitting.
- Ability to push and maneuver wheelchairs throughout the facility.
- Ability to assist with transferring and repositioning patients, including assisting patients on and off imaging tables.
- Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift as required to perform essential job duties.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely to and from the Imaging Department, including transportation between multiple floors and areas of the facility.
- Safely push and maneuver wheelchairs.
- Assist patients with moving on and off imaging tables and assist with patient transfers and positioning as directed by Imaging Technologists.
- Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional assistance to patients throughout their visit.
- Communicate patient needs, concerns, or changes in condition to the appropriate technologist or clinical staff.
- Assist Imaging Technologists with maintaining an efficient patient workflow.
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the Imaging Department, examination rooms, and equipment.
- Clean and disinfect examination areas and equipment according to department and infection-control procedures.
- Stock examination rooms with linens, gowns, and other medical supplies.
- Monitor supplies and notify appropriate staff when supplies need to be replenished or reordered.
- Assist with preparing examination rooms between patients to ensure rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for the next examination.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures, including patient safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Patient Care Expectations
The Imaging Aide is expected to provide respectful, compassionate, and patient-centered assistance to every patient. The position requires frequent interaction with patients who may be experiencing pain, limited mobility, anxiety, or other challenges. The Imaging Aide should demonstrate patience, professionalism, and sensitivity while assisting patients and supporting the Imaging team.
Requirements:Qualifications
- BLS – Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider, certified by the American Heart Association (AHA), is preferred but not required prior to hire.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively while working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands from patients, physicians, technologists, and other staff.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate and respectful assistance to patients across a broad range of ages and developmental or social maturity, from pediatric through geriatric patients.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and in detail.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and professionally with physicians, patients, technologists, and all levels of staff.
- Demonstrates professionalism, compassion, dependability, and a commitment to providing excellent patient service.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and assist with department needs as they arise.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
