Intern - Physician Assistant Clinical Observer - Kidney Services in Lima, Ohio at Lima Memorial Health System

The Physician Assistant (PA) Clinical Observer role provides recent PA program graduates awaiting state licensure the opportunity to gain supervised clinical exposure in a healthcare setting. This position is designed to enhance clinical knowledge, professional development, and familiarity with patient care workflows while maintaining compliance with licensure regulations. Observers will shadow licensed providers and participate in non-direct patient care activities.

Education: Must be a new graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program (Master's degree preferred) and preparing to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) within six months of hire.

Licensure/Certification: Pending state PA licensure; not yet authorized for independent clinical practice. Current BLS and ACLS required or obtained within three (3) months of hire. PALS and ATLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire (if applicable).

Experience: Prior hands-on patient care experience (e.g., as an EMT, nurse, or medical assistant) preferred.

Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately. Possess the ability to calculate simple mathematics and follow instructions.

Role Limitations:
• No direct patient care, prescribing, or medical record documentation under one’s own name.
• Activities limited to observation, education, and non-clinical support tasks.
• All participation occurs under supervision of licensed providers.
