Engineering Specialist (Natural Gas)

What you will do:
- Complete design and mapping projects, including plan & profile alignment sheets, detailed piping drawings, cross sections, isometrics, P&IDs, index sheets, other exhibits as required.
- Produce complete construction plan sets for natural gas utility projects under the supervision of a registered professional engineer.
- Develop preliminary layouts and final design drawings using engineering notes, sketches, survey base maps, shapefiles, and topographic and planimetric mapping.
- Use BlueSky Mapping Software, Civil 3D, and GIS tools while applying client standards as required.
- Support mapping development strategies that strengthen drafting and design capabilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop templates, libraries, and tools that align with client standards.
- Complete work in accordance with project scope, client requirements, jurisdictional codes, and industry standards.
- Deliver work on schedule.
- Review drawings and related work for completeness, accuracy, and quality.
- Maintain organized project drawing revisions, plan sets, and related documentation.
- Coordinate closely with the design manager and project team.
- Collaborate with the design team and support document management in Microsoft Teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Prepare construction documents, including plan and profile sheets, site plans, cross sections, and notes.
- Apply experience with surface and corridor creation, pipe networks, and grading tools.
- Use Sheet Set Manager procedures and objects, including fields, custom properties, and model and sheet views.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Civil 3D project organization and drawing structure.
- Follow CAD standards and structured workflows to improve efficiency and reduce design hours.
- May remain in stationary position for extended periods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Associate degree in drafting, design, or a related field from an accredited institution, or 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with natural gas pipeline and facility projects or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
- Ability to prepare, read, and interpret construction plans and technical documents, with strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam for design review.
- Process-oriented with strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience developing KPIs, benchmarks, and related analyses.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of design platforms such as BlueSky Skyline/Lightning, SEED File Database, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and Trimble Business Center.
- Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in gas pipeline design, GIS, mapping, survey, drafting tools, and processes.
- Strong communication skills and work ethic.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
- May be required to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, up to five days per week, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
- Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
