Marine Dealer Development Manager

Marine Dealer Development Manager Opportunity Summary:

Come grow with us as a Marine Dealer Development Manager, who develops, negotiates, and implements partnerships with marine dealers, sub-dealers, fleet operators, and end users. This individual is goal-driven and motivated to surpass deadlines and achieve results by expanding our marine business across recreational, commercial fishing, passenger vessel, and freight markets. The role combines field sales development with administrative oversight of the Volvo Penta Partner Network (VPPN) and our growing sub-dealer base.

Job Duties:

Sales, Marketing & Dealer Development

  • Develop annual sales and marketing plans targeted to accomplish sales and gross profit goals through marine dealers and sub-dealers within the assigned area of responsibility (AOR).
  • Work with internal partners (VP of Marketing) and external partners (Volvo Penta and other marine OEMs) to implement marketing and sales strategies and promotions as outlined in annual sales/marketing plans.
  • Administer marine dealer incentive programs, including Volvo Penta's Spring and Fall Parts Special Discount Programs.
  • Call on dealers and sub-dealers within the AOR to promote the specification of the company's marine products in their equipment offerings and resolve any issues that may interrupt this specification.
  • Work with vendors to resolve product issues affecting dealers or company operations.
  • Partner with dealers to convince their current or potential customers to purchase equipment with the company's specified marine product.
  • Promote the purchase of all company marine products by demonstrating the value to the dealer.
  • Participate in industry functions, trade shows, marine associations, and other events to promote the company and the marine products represented.

Sub-Dealer Network Administration & Support

  • Serve as the primary administrator for all Volvo Penta Partner Network (VPPN) access issues, handling 1020 login and access requests per week.
  • Add, maintain, and manage sub-dealer employee access across Volvo systems, including VPPN user creation, user rights and roles in the Baldo System, and application access configuration via VPPN Self Service.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting and coordination with Volvo support teams to resolve access and system issues.
  • Lead the rollout of the Volvo Penta Shop (online parts system) to sub-dealers, including coordination with Volvo on implementation timelines, in-person training at all dealer locations, user setup, and tax documentation collection (Tax Resale Certificates and Tax ID compliance).
  • Provide Vodia diagnostic tool ordering and setup assistance to sub-dealers on an ongoing basis.
  • Distribute Volvo's monthly parts price-file updates and forward product updates, training announcements, and classroom schedules to sub-dealers.

Reporting, Compliance & Financial Programs

  • Prepare and submit the mandatory Quarterly Sub-Dealer Parts Sales Report to Volvo, enabling calculation of AOR parts commission payments.
  • Monitor Volvo Parts Co-op funds, including tracking, usage, and compliance.
  • Manage and maintain the Volvo customer database, including direct dealers, sub-dealers, and trade accounts; distribute updated customer lists quarterly to all internal departments.
  • Administer Dealer Agreements to ensure compliance with terms and conditions and support dealers in meeting those requirements.
  • Analyze monthly activity against goals and objectives and report findings to upper management.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and opportunities using the company's CRM system.

Sub-Dealer Performance, Assessments & Development

  • Prepare and present Annual Sub-Dealer Assessments, including parts sales performance, parts returns, VOR orders, and training compliance (data sourced from Volvo).
  • Analyze discount eligibility and determine whether dealer-level discounts should remain or be adjusted.
  • Make final recommendations on whether to retain sub-dealers; admin prepares the documents, and sales meets with dealers for the review.
  • Lead onboarding of new sub-dealers, including full system setup, access to Volvo systems, ongoing administrative and operational support, and sub-dealer contract development and negotiation.

Customer Satisfaction & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as the escalation point for customer satisfaction issues, including unanswered calls to the parts department, unprofessional interactions, delayed parts or service invoicing, and lack of response from parts, service, warranty, or accounting teams.
  • Coordinate internally across departments to resolve issues and restore customer confidence.

Work Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 35 years of related experience in marine sales, dealer development, or marine OEM/distributor operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of marine propulsion products (Volvo Penta experience strongly preferred) and the recreational and commercial marine markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing dealer or sub-dealer networks, including onboarding, training, and performance assessment.
  • Experience administering OEM partner portals (VPPN or similar) and coordinating with manufacturer support teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present to dealers and senior management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for customer database management and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the AOR for dealer visits, training, and trade shows.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to coastal and inland marine markets.

Employee Benefits & Rewards:

  • 8 Paid Holidays & 1 Paid Wellness Day
  • Paid Time Off
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401k with Company Match
  • Company Paid Training
