Job Description
We are hiring experienced CNC Setup Machinists (mill machines) who can independently set up and run precision parts from print to first article. This is not an operator-level role.
FK Instrument is a Clearwater-based precision machine shop specializing in complex, tight-tolerance CNC machining. We are a stable, rapidly growing company looking for strong setup talent, and for employees that are looking to grow with the company.
What you will do
- Set up and operate CNC mills (3, 4, and 5-axis)
- Perform full machine setups using setup sheets and process documentation
- Select tooling, set offsets, and establish proven production runs
- Prove out programs and make adjustments to achieve first-article approval
- Inspect first article and perform in-process inspection using precision tools
- Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements
- Organize upcoming jobs during machine cycles to reduce downtime
- Set up additional machines as time allows
- Record setup and run data in ERP system
- Maintain machines (coolant, oil, basic upkeep) and keep a clean work area
- Support continuous improvement in setup time and process efficiency
- 5+ years CNC machining experience with strong setup on mill machines including 4th axis and horizontal machines
- Ability to independently set up CNC jobs from print to production
- Strong blueprint reading and mechanical aptitude
- Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, etc.)
- Solid math skills
- Mastercam experience preferred
