Overview
If you're passionate about supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioral development and making a meaningful difference in their lives, we have a special opportunity for you. We're seeking a dedicated Behavior Assistant to join our team and provide individualized support that helps children build positive behaviors, develop essential skills, and thrive in a nurturing learning environment.
Key areas of responsibility
- Partner with the Behavior Specialist to implement program-wide and child-specific strategies and procedures.
- Use reflective practices to support teachers in the consistent and accurate implementation of program-wide and child-specific strategies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of mental health services for children.
- Provide training on program-wide and child-specific strategies and procedures.
- Complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development per year.
- Other duties as designed.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma. RBT Certification (Registered Behavior Technician) or ability to earn certification within four weeks of hire.
- Experience working with young children (0-5) in educational or mental health settings.
- Strengths-based, non-punitive approach to behavior. Knowledge of social-emotional development and trauma-informed care.
- Bilingual English Spanish preferred. Pass a criminal history, background, and sex offender registry check. A driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation, and a safe driving record. Complete an employment physical exam.
- Be available to travel to centers throughout the service area and agency. Be available to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required.

- Use of Microsoft Office software suite (e.g., Office 365, Teams, Sharepoint).
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time and resources efficiently.
- Ability to collect and interpret behavioral data
- Strong intrapersonal skills, including self-awareness, emotional regulation, professional presence, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to manage crises and support de-escalation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive, strengths-based relationships that are culturally responsive and trauma-informed.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Ability to support children, families, and staff from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
