Job Description

Finance & Automation Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance & Automation Manager based in Brazil.

This is a high-impact, player-coach role combining hands-on finance leadership with practical automation and technology development.
You will own critical accounting operations, including financial reporting, close, tax compliance, AP, payroll, cash flow, and budgeting.
You will also lead a small accounting team, balancing delegation and coaching with direct ownership of key financial activities.
A major part of the role is building and shipping internal finance tools, dashboards, automations, and web applications.
You’ll use AI-powered coding tools to turn finance challenges into efficient, scalable solutions rather than simply proposing ideas.
Working closely with finance leadership, you’ll help strengthen financial controls and provide insights that support strategic decision-making.
The role is fully remote and suited to an autonomous professional comfortable working across distributed, international teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Own day-to-day financial operations, including general ledgers, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, ad-hoc analysis, cash flow, and budgeting processes.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a small accounting team, ensuring effective delegation, accountability, quality, and professional growth.
  • Oversee accounts payable and payroll processes delivered by the team, maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate controls.
  • Monitor cash positions, upcoming outflows, and liquidity requirements, coordinating with banking partners as needed.
  • Maintain accountability for financial controls, including payment authority, approvals, and release-level financial processes.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain internal finance technology, including dashboards, automations, data workflows, and web applications.
  • Use AI-powered coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot Pro, or comparable solutions to accelerate finance automation and development.
  • Partner with finance transformation leadership to ensure accounting operations provide reliable information for strategic and high-level business decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, reporting, and automation across the finance function.
  • Serve as the key point of accountability for accounting operations as the function continues to grow.
Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience across technical accounting functions, including general ledger management, financial close, tax compliance, accounts payable, payroll, cash flow, and reporting.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a small accounting or finance team, with the ability to combine hands-on execution and effective delegation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently build and ship finance tools, dashboards, automations, or internal applications using AI-powered coding or “vibe coding” tools; a portfolio or code sample is expected.
  • Professional experience with US accounting practices and exposure to US-based companies.
  • Comfortable managing financial controls and holding payment-release authority with a strong understanding of risk, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Experience working with global, distributed, and culturally diverse teams.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • High level of autonomy, ownership, organization, and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where finance, technology, and process improvement intersect.
  • Experience or professional background in Latin America is preferred.
Benefits:
  • 100% remote work.
  • Full-time independent contractor engagement.
  • Work structure aligned with US Eastern Time hours.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a finance team while remaining directly involved in accounting operations.
  • High degree of autonomy and ownership over finance transformation and automation initiatives.
  • Opportunity to build and deploy practical finance technology using modern AI-powered development tools.
  • Exposure to international, distributed, and culturally diverse teams.
  • Direct involvement in strategic finance initiatives and business decision-making.
  • Opportunity to shape accounting processes and automation as the function scales.
