Team Lead - Tip Forming Cell in Bonita Springs, Florida at Exalta Group

Position Summary

The Team Lead guides the daily work of the Tip Forming Cell to meet safety, quality, delivery, and production goals. This role assigns work, supports employees, helps resolve equipment and process issues, and keeps production on schedule. The Team Lead also trains employees and works with other departments to improve cell performance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support employees in the Tip Forming Cell. Set expectations for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, housekeeping, and teamwork.
• Assign work based on production priorities and employee skills. Monitor progress throughout the shift and address issues that affect the schedule.
• Identify training needs and support onboarding, cross-training, and employee development. Provide feedback and report personnel concerns to management.
• Help resolve equipment downtime, material shortages, tooling issues, staffing needs, and quality concerns. Communicate production status and provide clear shift handoffs.
• Provide hands-on support for tip forming, TIG welding, boring, swaging, CNC lathes, and related operations. Assist with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Read and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Help employees select and use the correct tooling, fixtures, materials, and measuring equipment.
• Ensure parts meet dimensional and cosmetic requirements and that employees follow approved procedures and inspection methods.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records, ERP transactions, and job clocking.
• Work with Quality and MRB to investigate nonconformances. Help identify root causes and carry out corrective and preventive actions as needed.
• Maintain 5S, standard work, and visual management practices. Use production results to identify ways to reduce downtime, setup time, waste, scrap, and rework.
• Participate in Kaizen and other improvement activities. Work with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production Control, and management to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Ensure work follows company safety and quality requirements, including applicable ISO 13485, GMP, and FDA requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in precision machining or medical device manufacturing.
• Experience operating or setting up OmniTurn CNC machines or similar turning equipment required.
• Experience with tip forming, TIG welding, or boring preferred.
• Prior team lead, supervisory, or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in an ISO/FDA-regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Knowledge of precision measuring tools, inspection methods, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of Lean practices, including 5S, standard work, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems, use production data, prioritize work, and meet daily targets.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and basic math skills.
• Ability to work independently and with employees across shifts and departments.

Education and Training

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training, machining certification, or related education preferred.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or leadership training preferred.
