What You’ll Do

As an Food Service Driver, you will report to the Nutritional Supervisor. You will assemble food trays and deliver food and supplies from Epworth kitchen and transports to designated locations. You will load and unload vehicles at each site. You will perform various kitchen duties such as cleaning, dishwashing, stocking, and light food prep.

Food Service Driver Job Responsibilities:

• Transport food, supplies, and materials safely and efficiently according to established schedules and delivery routes.
• Load, unload, and distribute food products and supplies while ensuring proper handling, storage, and inventory control.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness, perform minor maintenance, and complete required driving and fuel documentation.
• Assemble and deliver patient meals according to prescribed diet orders, portion standards, and food safety guidelines.
• Prepare basic food items, including fruits, vegetables, salads, beverages, snacks, and nourishments.
• Set up serving stations, stock food service areas, and transport meal carts and floor supplies to designated locations.
• Perform dishwashing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service equipment.
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, storage, and service areas in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Monitor and document food temperatures, sanitation procedures, and other required operational records.
• Manage inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of food, supplies, and materials.
• Assist with meal preparation, tray line operations, food service, and general kitchen support activities.
• Operate food service equipment safely and effectively while following established procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, training programs, and special projects.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, workplace safety standards, and scheduling flexibility, including overtime as needed.

What You Bring

As a Food Service Driver, this position requires a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle for extended periods of time. The individual must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, perform routine tasks effectively, and read and write legibly. The role also requires the ability to learn and apply food service standards and special dietary requirements, including portion control, allergy awareness, sanitation, and hygiene practices. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to interact courteously with patrons, patients, and staff while maintaining positive working relationships. The candidate must demonstrate the motor coordination necessary to serve food, handle dishes, and use various cleaning supplies and equipment safely and efficiently. The position also requires the physical stamina to perform essential job functions, including stooping, reaching, lifting equipment and supplies, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

Required Qualifications

• The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
• Previous customer service experience in a food service environment is preferred.
• Candidates must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
