This is a fully remote opportunity for a payments professional to take ownership of the complete chargeback and dispute lifecycle in a fast-paced, high-volume e-commerce and telehealth environment.
You will investigate disputed transactions, build compelling evidence packages, and work to improve dispute outcomes while protecting revenue.
The role combines payment operations, fraud investigation, risk monitoring, and data analysis to identify patterns and prevent recurring issues.
You will collaborate closely with Customer Support, Finance, Payments Operations, and fraud prevention teams to resolve disputes efficiently.
Success in this role will directly contribute to maintaining healthy chargeback ratios, reducing fraud, and strengthening payment operations.
The environment is highly autonomous and dynamic, making it well suited to someone who takes ownership, moves quickly, and is comfortable working with limited oversight.
Professional-level English and availability during U.S. business hours are required.
- Chargeback lifecycle management: Own the end-to-end dispute process, from receiving notifications through final resolution, reviewing disputes from Stripe and other payment processors, categorizing cases using card network reason codes, and ensuring all responses meet required deadlines.
- Dispute investigation: Analyze disputed transactions and customer activity to determine validity, reviewing transaction history, account activity, IP and device information, billing and shipping details, and customer communications to identify friendly fraud, unauthorized transactions, or policy abuse.
- Evidence compilation and representment: Build structured, persuasive evidence packages using proof of service or delivery, transaction details, customer communications, policy acknowledgements, and account activity logs, while ensuring submissions meet Visa, Mastercard, and processor requirements.
- Fraud and risk monitoring: Monitor dispute activity and emerging fraud patterns, flag suspicious transactions, coordinate risk mitigation efforts, and contribute to improvements in fraud detection and prevention processes.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Customer Support to resolve potential disputes before they escalate, coordinate with Finance and Payments Operations on reporting and reconciliation, and share insights that can help reduce future disputes.
- Reporting and performance tracking: Monitor chargeback ratios, dispute win rates, resolution times, and fraud trends, helping keep performance within card network monitoring thresholds while identifying operational opportunities for improvement.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience managing chargebacks, payment disputes, or fraud investigations, preferably in a high-volume payments environment.
- Payment platforms: Hands-on experience with Stripe, NMI, or other payment gateways and dispute management systems.
- Industry knowledge: Strong understanding of Visa, Mastercard, and card network dispute processes, reason codes, deadlines, and representment requirements.
- Analytical skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to investigate complex transaction and customer activity.
- Evidence preparation: Proven experience compiling detailed documentation and evidence for successful dispute responses.
- Communication: Strong written English and the ability to produce clear, persuasive responses for banks, processors, and other stakeholders.
- Work style: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with a high degree of ownership and changing priorities.
- Nice to have: Experience in telehealth or e-commerce, familiarity with Disputeninja, Vector Payment, or similar chargeback platforms, knowledge of fraud detection and payment risk tools, and advanced Excel or data analysis skills.
- Availability: Professional-level English communication and the ability to work U.S. business hours.
- Fully remote work from India.
- Flexible, globally distributed working environment.
- High level of ownership and autonomy with limited bureaucracy.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of payments, fraud prevention, e-commerce, and telehealth.
- Direct impact on revenue protection, risk management, and payment operations.
- Exposure to cross-functional collaboration across Customer Support, Finance, Payments Operations, and fraud prevention.
- Fast-moving environment with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and scalable operational systems.
