Health & Family Service Aide Responsibilities
- Answers phones and refers to appropriate staff; takes messages.
- Greets visitors to the center and ensures only authorized persons enter the building.
- May cover in classrooms or may assist students with medical needs in classroom or during meals.
- Assists Family Advocates in agency outreach recruitment efforts as requested and spontaneously when engaging with the public.
- As needed, assists with recruitment and enrollment for some agency programs.
- Provides support to families and refers to Family Advocates with any concerns.
- Assists Health Team and Family Advocates by encouraging families to keep up to date on all regularly scheduled health and dental events for children, including CACFP nutrition program.
- Assists Health Team and Family Advocates in maintaining thorough, accurate, and up to date documentation of services provided and communication conducted with families.
- Utilizes the Child Plus data system to create and maintain documentation of program services and required health and family service events. Assists in obtaining and documenting health events accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assists Family Advocates in promoting parent participation opportunities such as governance and parent workshops.
- Performs timely and accurate data entry into assigned software program. This includes, but is not limited to: health records, immunization data, developmental and health screening results, evaluation, follow-up, treatment results for children and pregnant individuals.
- Assists with necessary screenings of center base and home base children (hearing, vision, growth assessments) and documenting results.
- Maintains and organizes health & safety supplies in each site’s health supply cabinet, classroom first aid kits, spill kits, and toothbrushing supplies.
- Assist with the monitoring and performing data entry into ChildPlus system for Child Care Food Program (CACFP). Assist with gathering monthly claim information from sites.
- Ensures all policies and procedures related to suspected Child Abuse or Neglect are followed per agency policies and state regulations.
- Keeps supervisor fully apprised of plans, activities and progress with health-related tasks.
Professional Responsibilities
- Follow the philosophy, communicated policies and procedures of CHILD, Inc. and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Acknowledge and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in Pre-service, In-service and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with RI and agency Child Abuse and Neglect reporting procedures.
- Take part in agency training and attend relevant conferences as determined necessary by management.
- Encourage family engagement in classroom and center activities. Ensure that parents feel welcome and provide them with meaningful work.
- Demonstrate punctuality, flexibility and dependable attendance.
- Demonstrate positivity, professional responsibility and ethical behavior with children, families, staff and community providers.
- Demonstrate the ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrate effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with children, families and other staff.
- Respect the confidentiality of information regarding children and families and be discreet in dealing with parents and other staff.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of CHILD, Inc.
- Job type: Part Time 25 hours per week.
- Monday - Friday
- School Year (44 weeks per year)
High School Diploma or GED
